Week Ten Reflections

For this week, rather than comment on the actual assignment itself or the content, I would like you to reflect on how you felt about doing a class like this online, versus with an in class activity. Advantages, disadvantages, etc. Please reflect on your ideas after having completed the excercise for week ten, here, Thanks!

Week Ten Assignment

Completion of this assignment will count as attendance for week ten. Thanks!

Week Ten Assignment

Please read and review the reading on total quality in schools using the Deming processes and respond, by typing your ideas in a comment, with a brief answer to each of the following questions:

1.) What do you think accounts for the endurance of Deming's ideas?

2 a.) How would you go about applying this process in your school?
b.) What is needed?
c.) What has to change?

3.) Why do you think the Americans initially rejected Deming (after the
Second World War) while the Japanese welcomed him, even though he was
an American, and their country had just fought a bitter war against,
mainly, the Americans and the British?

4.) Why is this historical context important to our understanding of Deming's contributions?

5 a.) Look at Deming's 14 points again: Is there a theme running through
them?
b.) If Deming was to come and have a look at what you are doing in
your organization, what do you think we would say?
c.) What might he suggest?

6.) What are your views of the ideas expressed in the article?

Feel free to consult with each other either online, by phone, or by arranging your own meetings, to help you complete this assignment, if you wish. Also, if you have any comments on reviewing what others have written about this assignment, please share them by commenting.

Thanks!
